Leadership Team

Hello, my name is Simon!
I am the Minister here at Aston Clinton Baptist Church. I have been in ministry for 13 years, which includes two other previous churches, and have been married for almost as long! That must have been a busy year! I was trained at Birmingham Bible Institute and Westhill College, Birmingham University.
I am passionate about my faith, and I truly believe in a God who can make a difference to us all in the 21stcentury. I believe in a powerful Holy Spirit who can change lives, if we open up to him. I have other passions too. I love my wife and children dearly and having holidays with them is always something I look forward to. I play Squash as regularly as I can, and I think I play the game pretty well for a ‘Vicar.’ I enjoy photography when I get chance, and open spaces are always a pleasure. I like cooking and am happy to dabble in alternative cuisine!
But more than these things, I want to welcome you to our Church. Please come along and see for yourself what Christianity is really like. Our services aren’t dull and we cater for all ages. I am sure that anyone coming into the Church will sense the presence of God as we worship. Take care.
God bless you,

Simon Downing

Youth Worker- Susanna Lamport

"My name is Susanna Lamport and I am the Youth Worker at ACBC, and have been in the job since March 2009. I absolutely love my job, and feel so privileged to have it. I am probably not the most experienced youth worker this Church could have, but I am enthusiastic and passionate about the young people in the village, and I do genuinely love hanging out with them, and spending time with them. I guess that gives me a few qualifications for this work!

Our aim is for the church to provide a safe, welcoming place where young people can be together, make friends and have fun. We run a youth cafe and a youth group each week, plus a home group, Xplore, for Christian teenagers at my house, and a Youth Church service every third Sunday of the month. There’s also a group called ‘Escape’ on the fourth Sunday in the morning, and regular trips to other youth events in the area, like ‘Impact’ run by Aylesbury Vale Youth for Christ.

When I am not perfecting my guitar hero skills on the Xbox, or beating everyone in the youth cafe at table tennis, I enjoy chilling with my family, long walks in the fields with my dog, and reading. I have been a Christian for about 8 years, and have lived in Aston Clinton for 16 years. I have been married for 16 years and have two children, aged 11 and 14."
